My Service for this summer!

So, my new year goal was to do a thing of service at least once a month. So for June and July I am Tutoring kids at the Literacy Center in Lehi (across the street from the Hutching Museum)

So I was originally going to be tutoring in reading. But they've put me in math for the first two times. It is really fun, but they don't have you stick to one single person to tutor, but I want to keep tutoring this one girl that I tutored on Thursday, because She was having a really hard time understanding how to divide be 10, and 100. And I want to keep working with her and helping her. To you it might seem really easy, but to her it is very hard. It was kind of hard because I was tutoring her and her brother at the same time, and her brother did all of his problems in 18 seconds!!! So I had to keep giving him something else to work on while I tried to help her. The girl felt bad because she couldn't finish her "Fast track" (which is liked a timed thing that you need to do in a certain amount of time) and so I told her not to worry about it and I'll make sure that we'll do it next time (which is Tuesday)

It's weird because if a person doesn't know an answer they'll just but down usually an number in the 20's or in the 60's. I wonder why kids pick those numbers...

So ya I love tutoring. Especially because I want to be a teacher when I grow up this is a great experience for me! I hope that they'll need me in reading some time also. They are just putting me wherever they need me though, so I don't know exactly where I'll be on Tuesday though. I think that Ill probably stay in math though for a while because they don't have enough tutors in math.

I just love working with the kids though! I've already tutored one kid who didn't get something, and we worked on it for awhile until he got it! It's such a great feeling when that happens though! Not just for them but for me to.
